2020 is Our Year of Service

Welcome From Fr. Rob Clements

Welcome back, ASU Sun Devils and everyone in the ASU Catholic community! We have missed you. The last five months have been challenging for all of us. I am glad you are back. I want to especially welcome our new and transfer students, we are glad you have chosen ASU.

Going to class and interacting with others will be a little different this year, but please know that the ASU Catholic Newman Center is one place that will never change. We are here to serve you, the ASU student, and everyone who is a part of the ASU community.

2020 has been an interesting time, and the balance of the year will be different for sure. Just know that our community is strong and ready to serve.

In His name,

SERVICE

is at the core of the ASU Catholic Newman Center. It is important to, as it is part of, our mission and our identity as a Catholic organization. Our Newman community serves the students, faculty and staff, alumni, parents, supporters and local residents that make up the ASU Catholic community. As a member of the Newman community, we choose to serve here.

SERVICE

is often thought of as simply performing good works or deeds, especially for those who are in need. While this is important, service for the ASU Catholic Newman Center means more than an occasional service project or mission trip. ASU Catholic encourages students to develop their lives into lives dedicated to service and to know and love Jesus. The Church shows us that God has a special concern for the poor and those in need, and that we are called to show concern for those in need just as God does. Everyone who is a part of ASU Catholic is called to develop lives dedicated to the good of others, especially those who are in need. Service at Newman is more than just something we do; it is part of who we are.

SERVICE

in 2020 at the Newman Center is more important than ever. Students and mission supporters have many opportunities to grow and develop a life of service. For many students, they choose to be a part of one of our local or foreign mission trips to serve the poor in that area. For others, their focus is on serving their fellow students. These leaders serve their fellow students by organizing events and activities, leading small discussion groups, they help evangelize, they help with the liturgy, and some even manage our social media, communications and marketing. All of these student leaders are the essence of our campus ministry program.
